“Automotive Cybersecurity Through Assurance”

“5StarS” is a UK government funded project to research and develop an assurance framework for assessing the cybersecurity of vehicles. It brings together key research bodies HORIBA MIRA, Ricardo, Roke, Thatcham Research and Axillium Research to address the increased cybersecurity threat around connected and autonomous vehicles.

Having been awarded funding from the UK’s innovation agency, Innovate UK, the consortium will research and develop a framework to assure that connected autonomous vehicles, components and systems have been designed and tested to a relevant cybersecurity standard.

At the end of the two-year project, the aim is to develop a consumer rating framework, like Euro NCAP’s vehicle safety ratings, that will give UK consumers transparency around a car’s potential cybersecurity risk.
